Concentration

Concentration is the mass of peptide per unit volume of solution, expressed as mcg/mL. It is calculated by dividing the total peptide mass by the volume of diluent added — for example, a 5 mg vial in 2 mL equals 2,500 mcg/mL.

Overview

Concentration is the central variable in all peptide dosing calculations. Once established during reconstitution, it determines how many milliliters (and therefore how many syringe units) correspond to any target dose in micrograms. If the same 5 mg vial is reconstituted with 1 mL instead of 2 mL, concentration doubles to 5,000 mcg/mL, and every syringe draw is half the volume for the same dose. Choosing a concentration that results in a practical syringe volume (typically 5–20 units on a U-100 syringe) improves dosing accuracy.
